Coordinator, Research Associate
Family Psychology Centre / Emotion Transformation Institute, Ontario, Canada
Hello!
My name is Ms. Haley Penny (BSc) and I am affiliated as a Social Media Coordinator and Research Associate at the Emotion Transformation Institute and the Family Psychology Centre located in Toronto, Ontario. I am working with the research team, Dr. Mirisse Foroughe, and fellow ETI associates Mariana and Michelle for the ISSTD poster presentation and conference. My work at ETI has included written and editing contributions in an ongoing paper for a developing Clinical Tool Manuscript on Nonverbal Behaviour, in person workshop coordination and support with Dr. Mirisse Foroughe, a prior role as a Social Media Coordinator at the ETI lab, and varied written, poster, and presentation contributions for Emotion Focused Therapy for Youth. I am also a lab associate at CAMH in Toronto with Dr. Tony George, providing behavioural support for individuals who had been using marijuana daily and are tasked with abstinence of marijuana use in a currently ongoing study on cannabis use and depression. I have completed my undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I was a lab associate in the Substance Use and Addictions Lab at Dalhousie under Dr. Sean Barrett, working with fellow research associates in a study assessing how frequency of and craving for vaping nicotine is affected by an increased stress response, and research data analysis. My future academic endeavour and goal is to continue my studies and complete a Masters of Science within the Psychology or Neuroscience field, and I am hoping to work with a particular focus on children and adolecent psychology and behaviour. My research interests include mental health research with focus on youth and adolescents, prescription and recreational drug research, and behavioural support.
