Dr. Dana Ross, MD, MSc, FRCPC, is a psychiatrist and clinician-educator in the Trauma Therapy Program at Women’s College Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto (U of T). Dedicated to improving access to trauma-focused care, Dr. Ross leads innovative research initiatives addressing the unique needs of individuals affected by complex trauma. One project focuses on developing scalable, evidence-based interventions to improve access across Ontario, while the other explores novel care delivery methods to support underserved populations.Additionally, she is overseeing a study on implementing virtual education in trauma-informed care for healthcare providers. Dr. Ross is a graduate of the Education Scholars Program at U of T’s Centre for Faculty Development and the Master Educator program offered by the Association for Academic Psychiatry. She integrates these advanced educational principles into her work, continually fostering learning and improvement within her field. In her clinical practice, Dr. Ross provides trauma-focused group psychotherapy to adults recovering from adverse childhood experiences. A passionate advocate for healthcare innovation, Dr. Ross explores virtual care delivery models and relationship-centered care approaches to enhance treatment outcomes. As a First Nations physician, she is committed to supporting underrepresented learners and serves as a mentor in U of T’s Diversity Mentorship Program, where she nurtures the growth of aspiring healthcare professionals. Dr. Ross’s contributions reflect her unwavering commitment to trauma-informed education, healthcare equity, and the integration of innovative solutions to improve care for diverse populations. Her work continues to shape the future of trauma-focused mental health services.
