Their research highlights the lack of mindfulness based interventions centering the lived experience of BIPOC community, the growing need for therapists to build communities for their own healing, and the need for research to invest in documentation of best practices for healing from harm, not only documentation of harm.
Amelia has published articles and writing focused on trauma informed pedagogy in virtual classroom and educational spaces, best practices for interrupting racial micro-aggressions and more recently completed a chapter on the use of the Liberation Health model with emerging adults in a decolonizing theory to practice textbook “ An Intersectional Approach to Human Behavior in the Social Environment” ( ed. Counselman-Carpenter, B.).
