Aistė Bakaitytė, PhD, holds a researcher position at Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania). She acquired her PhD at Mykolas Romeris University in 2023 defending her thesis on posttraumatic growth in women survivors of intimate partner violence. She also has prior experience working in a Crisis center, providing psychological counseling for people with suicide risk, trauma experiences, and other psychological difficulties. Currently, she is providing training for specialists of Child protective services in Lithuania on conducting child interviews in alleged sexual abuse cases, and is a head of the Applied Criminal Psychology master’s program at Mykolas Romeris University.
Dr. Aistė’s Bakaitytė’s research interests include the integration of trauma and forensic psychology, investigating survivors of intimate partner violence, sexual and other types of childhood abuse, and secondary trauma in Child protective services specialists. Her main publications are focused on longitudinal and cross-sectional studies in the fields of trauma and forensic psychology, in journals such as the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Journal of Family Violence, and Child Abuse & Neglect. Dr. Bakaitytė has extensive training in statistical methods, academic writing, and publication. Also, she is a trained psychologist with special training in helping people with suicide risk.
Dr. Aistė Bakaitytė is an international affiliate member of the American Psychology Association, a member of the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, and the Lithuanian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies. She sees becoming a member of ISSTD in the near future.
