Alexis Adams-Clark graduated summa cum laude from Connecticut College in 2015 with a B.A. in psychology and gender/women’s studies. After graduation, Alexis worked as a postbaccalaureate research coordinator in the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. In 2017, she joined the clinical psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Oregon. Under the mentorship of Dr. Jennifer Freyd, Alexis’ research focused on sexual trauma and the impact of institutional betrayal on physical and mental health outcomes, particularly as it relates to campus sexual assault. During graduate school, she also received extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy and taught multiple undergraduate courses on trauma, gender, and human sexuality. She graduated with her Ph.D. in 2024 after completing her clinical internship in the Adult Track of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University's Clinical Psychology Training Consortium, where she focused on evidence-based treatments for PTSD and substance use. Alexis recently began a postdoctoral fellowship as a part of Brown's Postdoctoral Research Fellowship program, where she is continuing her research on sexual violence under the mentorship of Lindsay Orchowski, Ph.D. Her work has been recognized and supported by numerous funding sources, including the American Psychological Association Division 35 (Psychology of Women), Division 56 (Trauma Psychology), and the University of Oregon Center for Women in Society. Her work as also been reported on by the press, including a feature by Oregon Public Broadcasting. She is also currently an Adjunct Instructor in the Psychology Department at Wheaton College, where she teaches undergraduate statistics.
