Alexandra Dick, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist in the Trauma Continuum of Care at McLean Hospital in Massachusetts who specializes in the treatment of trauma-related disorders among adults. As a staff psychologist, she provides individual and group therapy for individuals afflicted with trauma-related disorders. She is an instructor in psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School offering supervision and didactics to trainees and junior colleagues.
Alexandra obtained a doctorate in clinical psychology from Suffolk University in Boston, MA in 2019. She completed predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the San Francisco VA Health Care System and University of California San Francisco where she received training in a variety of treatments for PTSD and trauma-related disorders. Since joining the staff at McLean, she has trained in Trauma Focused Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and completed a post-graduate fellowship in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at the Massachusetts Institute of Psychoanalysis. Prior to entering the field of psychology, Alexandra worked in organizations focused on community health and adult education. She is passionate about understanding societal factors that contribute to trauma and improving care for individuals with PTSD and dissociative symptoms. Additionally, she has a background in Buddhist meditation and contemplative practices and is interested in their intersection with mental health.
Alexandra has presented on and published research related to trauma, PTSD and factors contributing to psychopathology such as self-compassion, emotion regulation and attachment. She has served as a clinical assessor and study therapist on several randomized control trials for treating PTSD. She is actively involved in embedded research programs within the Trauma Continuum at McLean.
