Dr. Andreas Laddis is a retired psychiatrist. He graduated from Medical School in Greece. He trained in General Psychiatry at Sheppard Pratt and then he completed a fellowship in Neurology. In the 40 years after his training, Andreas worked in community mental health centers. His most productive job was as Medical Director for the Cape Cod and the Islands Community Mental Health Center for fifteen years. There, his clinical, academic and administrative priority was to promote expert psychotherapy services for patients with severe personality disorders and trauma-related disorders. He trained psychiatry residents and other professionals in the principles of his psychodynamic model of psychotherapy, Role Reconstruction Therapy. Andreas joined our Society (then ISSD) in 1993. He made it his professional home, as the Society grew collegial and inclusive. He served on the Board of Directors for six years. He has participated in many ISSTD committees and projects. He was the Editor for Members’ Clinical Corner, 2010-2016. He was Editor of the Society’s clinical e-journal, Frontiers in the Psychotherapy of Trauma and Dissociation, 2016-2020. He presented his practice and publications in the Society’s Annual Conferences. He presented his psychotherapy model and his research on that model’s efficacy and his research comparing dissociative phenomena in persons with DID or other diagnoses. He routinely organized panel discussions for progress in defining concepts like dissociation, trauma and integration. He was awarded the ISSTD Distinguished Achievement Award, in 2011 and 2019. In 2021 he was awarded the ISSTD Life Achievement Award. In 2021 he became Emeritus Member of the Society.He is also a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
