Julie Riley, PhD, is a licensed processional counselor and supervisor in private practice with 15 years of clinical experience working with individuals and families impacted by trauma. She maintains a close working alliance with Houston-area adoption organizations to provide therapy, consultation, and parent education/coaching from an attachment focused and trauma-informed perspective. She obtained a masters degree in Creative Arts Therapy from Nazareth University, and pursued specialized training in neurofeedback and EMDR. Dr. Riley received her PhD in Psychology with an emphasis in clinical psychology in 2021 from Fielding Graduate University. She has conducted research focused on emotional dimensions of chronic medical conditions and narrative inquiry, as well as social action community-based research as part of a cross discipline research collaborative. Dr. Riley has also published and presented on research examining experiences of transphobia in the workplace and coping with transphobia. Additionally, she is interested in ideas of positionality in research and clinical practice. Dr. Riley's clinical training experience has included therapy, assessment, and program development within a therapeutic school and community clinic for neurodivergent populations, as well as a predoctoral internship at the Harris County Children’s Assessment Center that focused on providing services such as therapy, assessment, and forensic interviewing to children/teens who experienced sexual abuse. In her private practice, Dr. Riley practices from an integrative client-centered perspective, combining clinical humility with trauma-focused approaches and interventions to meet the needs of the clients and families she works with. Dr. Riley is an active member of the American Psychological Association and American Art Therapy Association.
