Anne Westcott, LICSW, maintains a somatically oriented consulting and clinical practice in the Boston area. She has conducted depth training in somatic treatments for trauma and developmental wounding to therapists for over 15 years and is a certified Sensorimotor© Consultant. A former trainer for the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute, Anne now focuses on developing somatically oriented trauma treatment for therapists caring for chidren and famliies impacted by truama and neglect.
She is co-developer of the Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment (SMART) model for children and adolescents. In 2018, she co-founded SMARTmoves to continue refining this model and to bring training and consultation to therapists around the world. She's worked with providers at residential treatment facilities, in outpatient centers, homebased teams, and in group and private practice.
She is the co-author of Transforming Trauma in Children and Adolescents (2020) and The Hidden Strengths Children's Series: Bomji and Spotty's Frightening Adventure (2018), How Sprinkle the Pig Escaped the River of Tears (2018), How Little Coyote Found His Secret Strength (2018).
A former supervisor at the Trauma Center in Boston, MA, in her early years she worked in home-based mental health and was part of one of the first school-based mental health programs the in Boston Public Schools.
Anne Westcott holds a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work (1985-1987). She's completed training in the Attachment, Regulation, and Competence (ARC) model, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Deep Brain Reoirenting, Circle of Security Parent Education, and EMDR. As an long time competitive athelete, yoga practionier, and meditator, Anne continues to explore somatic practices in her personal work.
