Dr. Jeeeun Kim, Ph.D., is a Visiting Research Scholar at California State University Long Beach (CSULB) and an Adjunct Professor at Yonsei University in Korea. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Ewha Womans University in 2022, with a dissertation on whistleblowing and its psychological implications. Her research focuses on gender-based violence and institutional betrayal, with a particular interest in digital sexual violence, including image-based abuse such as deepfake technology. She is committed to advancing knowledge in these areas through both research and applied clinical work.
At CSULB, Dr. Kim collaborates with Professor Courtney Ahrens on research examining intimate partner violence among Korean Americans. She also teaches Counseling Psychology at Yonsei University, mentoring students in both theoretical and practical aspects of the field. Her academic work extends to understanding how institutional betrayal affects marginalized communities within the counseling and psychology professions, emphasizing the need for systemic change and ethical responsibility.
In her clinical practice, Dr. Kim specializes in trauma counseling, working primarily with victims of gender-based violence and crime. As a criminal psychologist, she collaborates with law enforcement and judicial agencies in South Korea, providing expert consultation on issues such as child and adolescent online grooming. She is also the lead counselor and operator at Soro Orot Institute, Inc., where she integrates research and practice to support survivors of trauma.
Dr. Kim has authored several publications, including studies in the European Journal of Psychotraumatology and The Korean Journal of Woman Psychology. She continues to contribute to the field through research, teaching, and advocacy, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications.
