Stephanie A. Johnson, LCSW graduated from University of Illinois Urbana -Champaign with her MSW in 1996. She has maintained a group private practice in Rockford, IL for the last 20 plus yrs. Focusing on the treatment of trauma and dissociation along with the development of new clinicians knowledge and skill set within these areas. Stephanie's clinical passion is in providing collaborative treatment working with individuals who present with trauma and dissociative coping mechanisms. Her work with trauma and dissociation started right after completing her BA in psychology from Beloit College.
She has received extensive training within these areas including obtaining ISSTD's Advanced Certificate in Complex Trauma and Dissociation. Stephanie is a member of ISSTD, NASW and EMDRIA. She is an Approved EMDRIA Basic Trainer along with having an EMDRIA approved advanced training on the use of EMDR's 8 phases in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociation. Most recently Stephanie has completed her Level 3 DBR training and has begun incorporating it into her sessions.
Previous work experience for Stephanie has included working for 15 years in adolescent residential treatment in the following capacities: therapist, training director, and Clinical Director. Additionally, Stephanie worked for two years in a private psychiatric hospital gaining experience across all units within the hospital's setting. Stephanie participated as a researcher with a Finding Solid Ground Group Research Study lead by Laura Hawkins with Purdue University.
Stephanie firmly believes that healing is best done through connection and attunement to with the client, allowing for the best use of one's clincial skills.
