Elizabeth Davis, MFA, MS, ATR-BC, LCAT is a board certified, state licensed art therapist with over 25 years’ experience working in the field of Creative Arts Therapy and trauma therapy. She has conducted dozens of workshops and presentations that offer practical and creative approaches to engaging and treating clients of all ages who present with complex issues. Her approach is integrative combining techniques and approaches from: Art and Expressive Therapy, EMDR Therapy, IFS and Ego State therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Progressive Counting, mindfulness practices, Hypnosis, Attachment Focused Therapy, and Play Therapy. She currently serves as Director of Intake for the Trauma Institute & Child Trauma Institute in Western Massachusetts . As Director Elizabeth is involved in training, research, consultation, supervision, and intensive therapy. Elizabeth also conducts trainings in Attachment and Dissociation Assessment and Treatment, Integrating Art Therapy Techniques and EMDR with Complex Clients, Advanced Methods for Intensive Trauma Focused Therapy.
Elizabeth is EMDR certified through Emdria and a Consultant and EMDR Trainer. She is level one certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and Hypnosis through ASCH, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), play therapy, sand tray, and attachment assessment utilizing the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) and has completed Level 2 training in Internal Family Systems (IFS). Elizabeth has published multiple chapters including in EMDR with Children in the Play Therapy Room: An Integrated Approach (2020) edited by Beckly–Forest & Monaco, (Springer), and in 2023 (Rutledge) “EMDR and Creative Arts Therapies” co-edited by Davis. Fitzgerald, Jacobs, and Marchan. She is currently a member of the Board of International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD), Co-Chair for the EMDR Special Interest Group and past Secretary of the Creative Arts Therapies SIG.
