Dr. Pilar Tucker is a current clinical psychology postdoctoral fellow at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She works across three departments within the hopsital, including the College Mental Health Program, the Psychology Training Program, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Office. In addition to treating patients with various clinical presentations, she has also devoted her time to research and program evaluation and implementation. She has developed and implemented the first year-long multicultural training program for McLean Hospital's pre-doctoral clinical psychology interns. Dr. Tucker received her Bachelors from Spelman College, her Masters in Counseling from Boston University’s School of Medicine, and her Psy.D from William James College. Dr. Tucker is a clinician, educator, and entrepreneur. She has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses at William James College, Boston University School of Medicine, and Harvard University. Dr. Tucker is the founder of Empower Our Crown Foundation, Inc, a non-profit organization, where she has worked as a consultant building and facilitating mental health, DEI, and leadership development curricula, trainings, and programing for academic institutions, hospitals, and other organizations across the globe. Pilar and her team have successfully developed trauma-informed and strength-based curricula for marginalized youth and young adults to have access to culturally responsive mental health resources and professional development training opportunities. Dr. Tucker's scholarship examines the effects of complex and racial trauma on the leadership styles of Black women in leadership positions. Her dedication to building inclusive systems, commitment to education, and relentless pursuits to build diverse and psychologically competent leaders, has allowed Pilar to be a dynamic change agent.
