Lydia Bowerly, MA is a licensed mental health counselor who specializes in treating survivors of child sexual exploitation, including technology-facilitated sexual abuse and sex trafficking. Lydia has been working with victims of childhood sexual exploitation since 2015, first as a volunteer victim advocate, then later as a mental health counselor and consultant. She is currently the owner of Looking Glass Psychological Services in Washington state and provides ongoing consultation for organizations such as the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.
Lydia completed her undergraduate in psychology at Washington State University and earned a master’s in professional counseling from Liberty University in 2016. She is currently in the final stage of completing her PhD in clinical psychology through Walden University. She has experience working in both private practice settings and community mental health agencies. Alongside her clinical work, she has served on the board of Mirror Ministries, a nonprofit organization that provides services to survivors of sex trafficking in Washington state, from 2019 to 2023, including as board president from 2021 to 2023. Since retiring from the board, she serves as the therapeutic programs consultant, writing curriculum and working on program development for the first restoration home for minor survivors of sex trafficking in Washington state. Lydia has provided consultation for multiple research studies involving survivors of sexual exploitation. She has provided written and in-person trainings through domestic and international organizations for professionals who work with survivors of child sexual exploitation including law enforcement, tech companies, lawyers, nonprofit organizations, clinicians, and lawmakers.
Lydia is a member of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, the American Psychological Association, and the Washington State Psychological Association. She is trained in Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy.
