Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States
Kevin received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Florida State University in 2022 and completed his clinical internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center - Western Psychiatric Hospital. He is currently junior faculty at Harvard Medical School and an Assistant Psychologist at McLean Hospital, supported by his National Institute of Mental Health Patient-Centered Career Development Award (K23). Kevin has published 16 peer-reviewed manuscripts in leading journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Molecular Psychiatry, Neuropsychopharmacology, and Brain. He is a recipient of a Joseph and Susan Gatto Foundation Award, Rappaport Foundation Research Fellowship, and Brain and Behavior Research Foundation Young Investigator Award, and has been recognized by McLean Hospital for his scholarly work through an Alfred Pope Award for Early Career Investigators. His academic research focuses on identifying novel brain-based mechanisms of posttraumatic stress symptoms, with a particular interest in linking the sensory system to the sensory-rich features of trauma memories, with the ultimate goal of developing ambulatory and accessible neurotherapeutics using non-invasive brain stimulation techniques.
Outside of his academic research, he has served on the board of several humanitarian non-governmental organizations, including the Syrian American Medical Society and Reaching Across Borders, where he currently helps lead the development and implementation of psychosocial support programs for refugee communities in Lebanon, Palestine, Turkey, Syria, and Iraq. Overall, Kevin aims to bridge his neuroscience research with community-based care through the incorporation of lived-experience methods to bring cutting-edge interventional psychiatry techniques to under-served and marginalized communities that are disproportionately affected by trauma.
